Erdogan’s statement was not unprecedented, expert says
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s statement made on the eve of the Genocide Remembrance Day was not unprecedented, political scientist Levon Shirinyan told reporters on Friday. It was yet another manifestation of Turkey’s denialist policy, he added.
“Currently, Turkey poses no threat to superpowers and therefore it is not advantageous for them to subdue it through the recognition of the Genocide,” the expert said.
According to Shirinyan, the Armenian Genocide will be recognized if Turkey violates the current balance in the world.
