Raffi Hovannisian: Turkey continues to deny Genocide
The recent statement of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is denialism in a new form, Heritage party leader Raffi Hovannisian told a press conference in Yerevan.
According to Hovannisian, it was an attempt by Turkey to mitigate damages on the threshold of the centenary of the Armenian Genocide. Turkey’s aim was to show that some changes have taken place in the country, he noted.
If Turkey is sincere, then the Turkish government will take other steps by April 24, 2015, he said.
The Armenians of Constantinople perceived Erdogan’s statement positively, and they hope that it will be followed by other statements, Hovannisian concluded.
