Desperate family of ex-police officer tried to migrate from Azerbaijan to Iran
In Bilasuvar region of Azerbaijan family of forced migrants consisting of 11 people tried to cross the Azerbaijani-Iranian border. The Azerbaijani portal "Haqqin.az" reports that it was informed about this from its own sources in that region.
The migrants were detained by the officers of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan, who then took them to the police department of Bilasuvar region. The head of the family Ibadullah Hasanov committed a self-immolation attempted as a protest, but he was stopped by the police. Hasanov is a former police officer.
This information was confirmed by deputy head of the so-called "Jabrayil region" Tapdig Nasirov. "The head of this family has repeatedly been invited to the receptions of the head of this region. All the questions have been settled, and there were not left reasons for dissatisfaction," Nasirov said.
According to him, Tapdig Nasirov was disappointed with the fact that he could not irrigate the land allotted to him by the government.
"Later, modern water pumps were installed on his territory, but he refused to use them principally. Another complaint was connected with the targeted social assistance. His family members are not entitled for targeted social assistance. We have repeatedly met them and explained the situation to them. Hasanov’s family lives in the district since 2003 and has never experienced any problems," said Nasirov.
Because of the bureaucratic arbitrariness groups of Azerbaijani citizens repeatedly seek to cross the borders of Azerbaijan and leave for the neighboring countries - NKR, Armenia and Iran. Thus, on April 12, 2014 Nazim Mamedov, resident of Nakhijevan Autonomous Republic, was detained by the Azerbaijani military while attempting to cross the border with Armenia with a white flag in his hands.
Note that on January 29, 2014 on the Armenian-Georgian border, a citizen of Azerbaijan resident of Baku born in 1976 Javid Orujov turned to Armenian border guards. He asked for political asylum for him, his wife and three young children.
Earlier, on January 23, in 2014, dozens of residents of Beylagan region in Azerbaijan in protest against the demolition of their homes by the chief executive body tried to pass to the territory of Nagorno Karabakh Republic. According to the Azerbaijani portal Gunxeber.com the citizens of Azerbaijan had already reached the contact line and tried to cross the border. As noted in the article, according to the recent information, the authorities of the district did not react to these actions of citizens.
