‘Boko Haram abduction financially driven’
Press TV has conducted an interview with Dr. Isaam Nomaan, a former Lebanese Minister, from Beirut, to further discuss the recent abduction of schoolgirls in Nigeria.
Press TV: What do you believe needs to be done to defeat Takfiris?
Nomaan: I really wonder why the Americans are not going to share their intelligence data with the Nigerians. Why are they intervening if they are not going to do something that they can do in order to free these kidnapped girls. Is it only a PR activity?
Well, everybody knows that some of these terrorist organizations, especially those who were working with them in Afghanistan are attached to the United States Intelligence Service. So, the Americans know a lot about them and they should share their knowledge with the Nigerian government in order to fasten the matter of, the process of freeing these girls.
Anyway it’s well-known now that these Takfiri terrorists are resorting to these violent methods for two reasons: one is for political reasons, using violence and terrorism in order to extract political stance from their enemies. And on the other hand, this is very important to know that kidnapping and terrorism has become an element, a means for extracting money and property from the victims and victims’ families. It’s really very very worrying and sad story.
Press TV: Who do you believe supports and finances Takfiris?
Nomaan: Well, I think they are supported by big powers, especially the Americans. We know that the Americans were supporting some of these Takfiri organizations in north Syria. But it seems that theses Takfiri organizations exceeded their contracts so the Americans, they stopped cooperating with them.
I don’t really know whether they are cooperating with them in Nigeria but I know that these as I was telling you these Takfiri organizations were created by the Americans when the Americans were fighting the Russians in Afghanistan.
On the other hand, some of these Takfiri organizations are on their own. They work for their own interests. But sometimes of course they can hire their services to other governments.
Press TV: And finally, do you believe that America has created a problem for itself by supporting Takfiris?
Nomaan: Well, in the past yes, and especially in Syria but I really wonder whether they have any interests in supporting Boko Haram in Nigeria. I won’t say yes, they have something to do with it, I don’t have the necessary information about it but I won’t wonder if some day somebody discloses that they had something to do with these terrorist organizations.
