All materials concerning Mamikon Khojoyan will be made public – Health Minister
It is a well-known fact that Mamikon Khojoyan was tortured while being held in captivity in Azerbaijan, Armenian Health Minister Armen Muradyan told reporters on Thursday.
Mamikon Khojoyan, a 77-year-old resident of Verin Karmiraghbyur village in Armenia’s Tavush province, died on Tuesday, May 20, more than two months after being released from Azeri captivity. Khojoyan’s relatives claim that he was injected with kerosene in his captivity, which caused his death.
“All materials concerning Mamikon Khojoyan will be made public,” the Minister stressed.
He also said that Khojoyan was under permanent medical control and doctors proposed taking him to a hospital, but his relatives refused to do so. “They called for an ambulance at 7:15 pm on May 20 and despite the large distance (12 km) between Berd and Verin Karmiraghbyur, the ambulance team arrived in 15 minutes, but they found him dead,” the Minister noted.
