Armenian Deputy FM: Deadline for joining Eurasian Economic Union indicated by Armenian President is real
I cannot say whether there will be any further developments today since the meetings and discussions are still underway, Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Manasaryan told a briefing in the National Assembly, in response to a question of whether the deadline for signing a treaty on Armenia’s joining the Eurasian Economic Union indicated by President Serzh Sargsyan is final.
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan has called for signing a treaty on the country’s joining the Eurasian Economic Union till June 15, 2014. A draft document has been prepared, Sargsyan said at a session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council on Thursday. “I ask you to set a deadline for signing a treaty on Armenia’s joining the Eurasian Economic Union,” he said.
“It will take two or three days to find mutually advantageous decisions on the remaining issues.”
Mr Manasaryan stressed that the postponement of signing the treaty is not due to any problems. The general atmosphere is also positive, he noted. “I believe that the deadline indicated in the President’s speech will be implemented,” the Deputy FM concluded.
