Armenian Economy Minister on establishment of free economic zone on Armenian-Iranian border
Armenian Economy Minister Karen Chshmarityan has commented on the rumors about establishment of a new free economic zone on the Armenian-Iranian border.
“It is still a program but it can be beneficial if implemented,” he told reporters on Wednesday.
The Minister noted that Iran remains Armenia’s good friend and developing any kind of economic cooperation with Iran is beneficial for Armenia, especially if it is a free economic zone, which will involve areas of mutual interest.
According to the official, not only Armenian and Iranian, but also Diasporan businessmen are interested in that program.
“Armenian-Iranian joint industrial enterprises are planned to be created in the free economic zone,” he said.
