Work underway to find missing freedom fighters – NGO head
There are over 200 missing freedom fighters in Armenia and information about 94 of them is being verified, chairwoman of the Council of the Relatives of Missing Freedom Fighters NGO Rima Arakelyan told reporters on Monday.
In her words, unlike Azerbaijan, our state prioritizes the issue of missing persons. “We have a professional commission and a working group which deal with this issue,” the NGO head noted.
She said that the NGO applied to the ICRC and other international organizations to organize a meeting of the commissions on missing persons of Armenia and Azerbaijan, but there was no response from Azerbaijan.
Speaking about Armenian POW Hakob Injighulyan, Mrs Arakelyan said that on June 12, the ICRC representatives visited him and reported after the meeting that Injighulyan is in a good condition.
