Intense gunfire reported in Armenian border villages
Azerbaijani forces fire shots at the villages of Barekamavan, Movses, Aygepar and Choratan in Tavush province of Armenia. The gunfire was heavy last evening and the shootings continue today.
Armenian Defense Ministry spokesman Artsrun Hovhannisyan told Panorama.am that shots were fired from large-caliber weapons and the enemy’s activity was suppressed as a result of retaliatory actions by the Armenian side.
Aygepar village administrator Andranik Aydinyan said the shooting began at 10:30 am. The gas pipeline was damaged.
“The shooting lasted two hours. Windows and roofs were damaged. A fire broke out near a house. Fortunately, no one was injured,” he said.
Movses village administrator Ararat Avalyan told Panorama.am that the village came under a heavy gunfire, which continued almost the whole day.
A mine exploded in the village at night, he said. Shots hit homes, the village school, the regional administration building and the church dome.
