Turkish intellectual praises Serzh Sargsyan’s invitation to Turkish President
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s invitation to his Turkish counterpart to visit Yerevan is really fair and it is a good call, Turkish publicist and human rights activist Ragip Zarakolu told reporters in Yerevan.
“I officially invite the next Turkish President – whoever is elected during the upcoming elections – to visit Armenia on April 24, 2015 and confront the clear historical evidence of the Armenian Genocide,” Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said in his remarks at the 4th meeting of the Armenian Genocide 100th Anniversary Planning Commission on May 27.
According to the Turkish intellectual, activities have been carried out in the direction of the Armenian Genocide recognition since 1965 and as a result, condolences were voiced by Turkey 99 years after the Genocide.
“This is, of course, the shame of Turkey, but, after all, at least something happened,” he said, meaning Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s message of condolence to Armenians.
