Haykakan Zhamanak: Electricity price increase may impact bread prices
The 10% increase in the electricity prices from August 1, 2014 will affect the prices of domestic goods in Armenia, Haykakan Zhamanak writes. The newspaper tried to find out whether the electricity price hike will impact bread prices.
“We use electricity to bake bread, so the bread prices will increase in case of the electricity price hike,” a source in Hesu bakery told the newspaper.
Sevan Bakery director Ashot Avetisyan said, “I don’t think the electricity prices have increased so much that we will have to increase the bread prices. We will manage to compensate it with profit.”
According to him, bread price hike is possible only if small companies do not come out of the shadow sector.
