“It is UNESCO’s mistake that the game Polo is registered under the name of Azerbaijani Republic,” Seyyed Mortaza Saghajian Nejad, the Mayor of Isfahan has told Iranian news agency IRNA during the interview.

In spite of many official complaints of Iran, Azerbaijan succeeded to record the game Polo as an Azerbaijani game in the list of non-material values of UNESCO.

tThe Mayor of Isfahan, has touched upon the abovementioned problem and has noted in particular, “Polo is an Iranian cultural value and its fatherland is Iran. The official representatives of the International Federation of Polo have confessed that Polo has been recorded as an Azerbaijani game. At present we are taking up serious steps in order to register Polo as an Iranian game during the ICCN that is going to be held in Isfahan in September.”
