US seeks to provoke conflict with Russia – philosopher
Press TV has conducted an interview with James Fetzer, American philosopher from Madison, about Russia warning Ukraine of “irreversible consequences” after a cross-border shell fired from Ukraine hit a residential area in Russia, killing a man and injuring two others.
Press TV: Your take on this. Do you think that Ukraine wants to escalate the tension between itself and Moscow?
Fetzer: As a former Marine Corps officer I would observe that they are taking extremely aggressive action against the rebels. It would not surprise me if someone of level of Zbigniew Brzezinski were advising them. This is intended to provoke Russia into a military response which may yet come to pass.
As a philosopher I must observe that the silence of the United States about the immorality of these actions is completely stunning. Here we have atrocities taking place. The Israelis are committing genocide in Gaza but the United States is mute because Israel is our ally. We have Ukraine committing genocide in Ukraine but the United States stands mute because Russia is now apparently our new enemy. The situation is a complete disgrace and America has lost any semblance of moral authority in the world.
Press TV: In one minute if you could tell me, do you think then that if you are saying that they are trying to escalate this situation, is it that the United States wants to have a military confrontation with Russia?
Fetzer: It does appear that the forces behind this which include the American military and NATO is dedicated to provoking a conflict with Russia which I must observe it is not very likely to win.
The Russians have very sophisticated equipment but ultimately if there is a nuclear exchange between these world powers we are all the losers, a nuclear winter will threaten to envelope earth and extinguish life on this planet.
