Research from Iran: Only one out of 44 officials prays in Azerbaijan
“Only one out of 44 Azerbaijani officials follows the religious norms, the rest do not pray at all,” reads the article in Iranian “ANAJ” news agency site.
The author of the article has made a research in order to find out what percent of the Azerbaijani officials prays or follows the rules of Islam.
According to the research, the speaker of Abulfaz Gharaev, the minister of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan, has noted in response to the question referring to fasting and praying, that it is the minister’s personal business, thus he does not possess any information about Gharaev’s religion.
The office of the ministers of the Inner Affairs of Azerbaijan as well as the office of the Sports and Youth affairs has reported that no one has seen the two ministers praying.
Recently, the Iranian media had spread information which said that the soldiers who are in service at the Azerbaijani army are not allowed to fast even during Ramadan.
he month of Ramadan within the Islamist world starts on June 29. The Muslims fast during that period. The faithful people do not eat anything from the morning till the sunset, they don’t even drink water. And those who are not fasting should not eat or drink water in public places. The Ramadan rules are not common only for travelers and those who are sick.
Recently, the author of an article published on Iranian official site “IRNA” has touched upon the situation of Islam detected in Azerbaijan. He has noted, “In 1996, as a result of the policy carried out by the Azerbaijani authorities the Islamist party of that country faced serious problems, and some of its leaders got arrested, the other part simply fled the country. Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and other Salafi groups will strengthen their position in Azerbaijan until there is a favorable atmosphere in created in Azerbaijan for Islamic party.”
