Andrzej Kasprzyk: OSCE is ready to assist parties to Karabakh conflict for cessation of ceasefire violation cases
"The Permanent Representation is ready to assist the parties to halt regime violations in any possible ways," stated Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk in an interview with the Azerbaijani news agency "APA".
According to him, Representation allows the parties to negotiate directly with each other, using the radius of the OSCE during the monitoring, as well as clarify issues of concern and support any actions which the parties may find helpful for reducing the growth of such cases.
He stressed that on July 22, during the meetings with the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan held in Brussels, the co-chairs expressed their concerns about the increase of deliberate killings of civilians along the contact line.
According to Kasprzyk, the Co-Chairs urged the parties to commit themselves to avoid casualties and not to attack villages and the civilians. The Co-Chairs also urged the foreign ministers to defuse tensions and adhere to the terms of the ceasefire agreement, he said.
Answering the question about possible meeting of Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents, Serzh Sargsyan and Ilham Aliyev, who will be in Paris at the invitation of French President Francois Hollande, the representative of the OSCE chairman stated that during the meeting of the Foreign Ministers the importance of the presidential summit was underlined.
