Azerbaijani authorities make opposition members change sides by means of porno-blackmail
Using such materials for a blackmail the authorities of Azerbaijan have succeeded in making a number of radical opposition members unexpectedly turn on the side of the government, reports Azerbaijani news portal Haqqin.az.
As the articles writes, a couple of days ago information agency Turan had spread information about a porno-blackmail against activist of National Front of Azerbaijan Kamala Khalilova (Bananyarly). Khalilova makes sharp, at times offensive statements in social networks against the authorities. The video showing her sexual life was shot with a hidden camera.
Azerbaijani special services hold video shootings of intimate lives of other oppositionists as well, reads the publication.
The article also mentions that a monitoring group of human rights organizations has condemned the interference into the private life of the Azerbaijan’s National Front party activist. Human rights defender Novella Jafaroglu said that placing the video of her intimate relations online was a dirty trick.
“This is a breach of honour and dignity of a human being and human rights defenders are determined to support Khalilova if she raises the question of how this video was shot and placed online,” said Jafaroglu.
Haqqin.az has turned to a number of political and social figures of Azerbaijan with this problem, asking their opinion about the issue and whether they felt being under surveillance.
“Believe me, I am an exemplary family man and I am sure that there can be no compromising materials of intimate nature against me. It is not however impossible to montage things,” said the director of Azerbaijani “Turan” information agency Mehman Aliyev.
Answering this question lawyer Aslan Ismayilov said he is always accountable for his actions and thus has nothing to fear. However at the same time he is convinced that there is no more immoral, dishonest and inhumane way of fighting with anyone than to publish online materials showing his/her personal life.
“Once the chief editor of Azadliq newspaper Ganimat Zahidov and former mayor of Baku Raphael Allahverdiev were caught with women. I think this was their fault. A man involved in social activities has to take care of his reputation and not to create such circumstances which may be used as compromising materials against him,” said the Democratic Party Chairman Sardar Jalaloglu.
