BBC NEWS: Ilham Aliyev threatens Armenia with war on Twitter
After clashes in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict zone President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev started to threaten Armenia with war through twitter, reports the BBC News.
The BBC article notes that after the resumption of clashes between Armenian and Azerbaijani armies President Aliyev made a number of bellicose statements on Twitter.
One of the users said it is a new phenomenon in politics – to declare about the resumption of war on Twitter. Now even wars are declared here, the article reads.
"Go home Ilham, you're drunk," wrote another Twitter user.
BBC mentions that the conflict between the two countries began around the time of the dissolution of the Soviet Union. An estimated 30,000 people were killed in the six years prior to a ceasefire in 1994.
Business Insider website also informs that on August 8, a day after Aliyev’s statement on Twitter in which he called Armenian “enemies” and “occupiers”, Azerbaijan's Defence Ministry released aggressive statements.
