Serzh Sargsyan: The negotiations are over the Kazan document
The Nagorno Karabakh peace talks are currently over the document presented in Kazan, President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan said in an interview with ArmNews TV.
Elaborating on the opinions, that long delays have thrown back the negotiation process and it's possible that everything will restart from scratch, Armenian President underlined: “We don't start anything from scratch, and falling behind or running ahead are very relative notions. We negotiate over the Kazan document, and it is the document of 2011 which Azerbaijani President refused to sign at the last moment. The Kazan document, as you know, is based on the Madrid principles and entails a resolution based on three main principles, which are non use of force or the threat thereof, territorial integrity and peoples’ right to self-determination.”
The OSCE Minsk Group mediators have continuously stated that the main principles and elements thereof shall be acknowledged as an integrated whole, and attempts of giving priority to any of them will make the pursuit of a balanced resolution wholly impossible.
