Serzh Sargsyan is sure Armenia is ready for information warfare as well
Unlike Azerbaijan, which establishes medieval social relations, Armenia has got free press, which contributes to confronting the adversary in the information field as well.
In an interview with ArmNews TV, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan tackled the issue of Armenian-Azerbaijani standoff in the information field in the course of recent ceasefire violations. In reply to a question whether or not Armenia is ready for information warfare, Serzh Sargsyan said: “I have always been sure about that. When I was saying that those issues and challenges that we faced had been the price to pay for the transformation from closed society to open society, I meant exactly that. In contrast to our neighbor, which establishes medieval social relations, we are an open society and our media is free. Whoever may disagree, however we are blamed for controlling our media, the majority of the media representatives at least know that they are free.”
In the meantime Serzh Sargsyan hinted that in the course of recent developments the situation has not always been smooth. “Of course, at the outset we had some issues. I have been closely following and seeing that certain media outlets and certain people even attempted to bring in the information presented by our adversary as a complete truth and serve that to our society. But that was only for a short period, and thank God, that without any order, as they say, from the top, without any orders at all, they were able to get together and adopt a very right position. Even those having very hard positions against the government, our political adversaries found their strength to react positively to the activities of our army, and that only brings honor to them,” Presdient Sargsyan concluded.
