Serzh Sargsyan: We always agree to convene high level meetings
The conflict of Nagorno Karabakh does not have a military solution. Such an opinion voiced the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan in an interview to ArmNews TV channel. Due to this, the Armenian leader elaborated, that Armenia is always willing to participate in any meeting aimed at the peaceful resolution of the conflict.
Speaking of the long-awaited trilateral meeting in Sochi on August 10, Serzh Sargsyan said: “Generally speaking, we ground our position on the premise, that there is no military solution to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. And if so, the issue must be resolved through negotiations. Therefore, we always and without going around agree on having meetings, all the more – on high-level meetings, and this (meeting in Sochi) was not an exception. We responded to Russian President’s initiative to meet in Sochi immediately, and as you see – the meeting took place.”
The meeting in Sochi was the 19th since 2008. Before that, the Presidents met in Vienna on November 19, 2013. In previous meetings on bilateral level, Russian President Vladimir Putin has always kept the issue of Nagorno Karabakh under his attention, yet this meeting in Sochi has been his first initiative to meet trilaterally with Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan.
