Krmoyan: Introduction of probation service to improve judicial impartiality
A concept of introducing probation service in Armenia is being worked out, with the respective package of laws to be submitted to the government in September, Armenia’s Deputy Justice Minister Suren Krmoyan told reporters on Wednesday.
According to the official, the probation service will be an independent agency, which will help improve impartiality of judicial system.
“Due to the lack of this system, arrest is often used as a measure of restraint in the pre-trial stage. The implementation of the probation service will enable to reduce the crimes rate in the country as well as to ensure protection of human rights and public security,” Mr Krmoyan said.
