Aliyev responsible for Armenian citizen’s murder – letter
Chairwoman of the Standing Committee on European Integration of Armenian National Assembly, member of the Armenian delegation to PACE Naira Zohrabyan has addressed an official letter to the President of the European Parliament, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, the PACE President and the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights.
The letter said, in part, “Azerbaijan is a member of the Council of Europe and is chairing the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers. This is a country which ratified a number of international conventions, including the Geneva Convention, which imply appropriate treatment of prisoners. However, the country chairing the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers is flagrantly violating any international laws.
“It is obvious that the Azerbaijani authorities and President Ilham Aliyev personally are fully responsible for the murder of Armenian citizen Karen Petrosyan and all those guilty of that heinous crime must be called to account.
“I expect your assessments, and I hope that the incident will be discussed by the European Parliament and PACE.”
