Heffern hopes Armenian, Azerbaijani Presidents will meet again in near future
U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern assesses the trilateral meeting in Sochi on August 10 and the agreements reached there as positive and useful.
Speaking to Armenpress, the Ambassador expressed hope that the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan will meet again in the near future.
"It was useful that the two Presidents reaffirmed their commitment to resolve the conflict peacefully. Long time had passed after the Presidents' meeting in Vienna. Sochi meeting was a long expected one and we hope that soon they will meet again. For advancing key questions we need a more active negotiation process," said Mr Heffern.
Answering the question that the Armenian Armed Forces during one week had prevented 20 subversive attacks of the enemy, and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev posted belligerent statements on his Twitter micro blog, writing that a new war is about to start, the Ambassador advised to refrain from actions that could escalate the situation.
