Levon Hayrapetyan to remain under arrest
The Moscow City Court did not change the decision to put Levon Hayrapetyan under arrest, ITAR-TASS reports.
Hayrapetyan’s lawyer Henri Reznik called the court’s decision “flagrant.”
“He is charged with an article under which one cannot be put under arrest (174.1, Criminal Code of Russia), so it is a flagrant violation,” he said.
The Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia arrested Levon Hayrapetyan, one of the wealthiest representatives of the Armenian Diaspora in the world on July 15. The arrest took place as part of an ongoing investigation conducted by the Russian Investigatory Committee into the activities of one of the local criminal groups. On July 24, the Investigation Committee of Russia brought charges against Levon Hayrapetyan for embezzlement (Article 160) and money laundering (Article 174).
