Armenia, Georgia agree to enhance ties
Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan and his Georgian counterpart Irakli Garibashvili have discussed a number of issues related to trade and economic ties as well as educational, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan told reporters following his meeting with Mr Garibashvili.
“We stressed the important role of the Armenian-Georgian intergovernmental commission, discussed the development of infrastructures and transport communications,” Hovik Abrahamyan said, adding that the meeting was warm and constructive.
Irakli Garibashvili for his part thanked the Armenian Prime Minister for a warm reception.
He said that the sides agreed to deepen cooperation in all areas.
“We have increased our trade turnover by 42% during the first 6 months of this year, which bears evidence to the fact that our economic relations are developing, and we will continue to enhance them,” Garibashvili said.
“We have recorded a dynamic growth in tourism and we also agreed to deepen our ties in this field,” the Georgian PM said, adding that they reached an agreement on the construction of a Friendship Bridge.
