Rumors on founding new party are baseless, Abdullah Gul says
Former Turkish President Abdullah Gul on Friday dismissed allegations that he is working to found a new political party, Anadolu Agency reports.
Speaking to the press while visiting his home city of Kayseri, Gul said the rumors that he is founding a new political party are "baseless."
Gul was Turkey's president for seven years from 2007 till August this year when former Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan became the first popularly elected president.
Gul has also assumed high-level posts at Justice and Development (AK) Party governments, including Prime Minister and Foreign Minister. He is also one of the founders of the AK Party.
