Serzh Sargsyan pays official visit to Vatican
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan went on an official visit to Vatican on Thursday. He participated in the opening of the photo exhibition “Parables of the Orient. Christianity and the Challenge of the New Millennium” at the Vittoriano Museum Complex in Rome, the President’s press service reported.
The exhibition aims to draw the international community’s attention to the situation in the Christian communities in the Middle East as well as to the necessity to preserve the Christian cultural heritage in the region. The exhibition features photos taken in nine countries of the Middle East as well as a documentary presenting the destruction of Armenian khachkars (cross-stones) in Jugha.
The exhibition, organized by the Armenian Embassy in Rimini on August 24, will be held in other Italian cities as well.
Serzh Sargsyan delivered a speech at the opening of the exhibition.
