ISIL engaged in ethnic cleansing – lawyer
Press TV has conducted an interview with Alfred Lambremont Webre, international lawyer from Vancouver, about some 100,000 Syrians fleeing northern Syria into Turkey over ISIL atrocities in less than a week.
Press TV: First of all what do you make of this ISIL advance specifically with this border between Syria and Turkey? It is a very strategic location, wouldn’t you agree?
Webre: Well yes.
I think that it is very important to note from a legal point of view that what ISIL is engaging in is called ethnic cleansing which is targeted against a particular ethnic group, in this case the Kurds, and that constitutes under existing laws - the Geneva Conventions - that constitutes genocide. So this in itself is a war crime and that should be widely reported.
Secondly, I think it is necessary to go to a deeper level here and I am not sure whether the people are reporting that or not but there are various responsible avenues of research which suggest that ISIL or ISIS is actually conducting surrogate warfare for Israel, Saudi Arabia and right-wing elements within the US government.
Because ISIL (ISIS) is actually just a reconstituted and enlarged corporate version of al-Qaeda which was originally started under the Reagan regime of the US and then became a CIA database and it is used in black operative warfare where you control both sides of a conflict for strategic purposes.
So in this case Israel and Saudi Arabia and the right-wing elements of the US would want to control ISIS so that they control what their envision is a global conflict or what they are trying to get off the ground as World War III which they have not been able to do so they would control the ISIL or caliphate aspect of the World War III and that is a fraud. So from a legal perspective I wanted to bring that to consciousness as well.
Press TV: Well Mr. Webre, also what we are seeing is these recent gains by ISIL along the Syrian border with Turkey is taking place at a time when Turkey has managed to release certain diplomats and Turkish nationals that have been abducted in the city of Mosul in Iraq by the ISIL and according to Turkish media themselves there was the operation included no combat and no ransom.
There are those who are pointing to the fact that there is some sort of collusion going on over here where ISIL was given the green light by Turkey to take over certain areas near the border. What do you make of that?
Webre: Well that may very well be the case because ISIL, whatever corporate entity it is and it has prospectuses and it operates more as a multinational corporation than some sort of political movement, Turkey may not currently have the same sort of ethnic goals that ISIL seems to have with what it is doing with the Kurdish refugees.
So in this sort of mixed warfare the ISIL has no qualms in committing genocidal war crimes at the border and at the same time Turkey in order to get its diplomats released may be taking other measures because its groups are not being targeted as yet by the caliphate.
