Today is World Contraception Day
World Contraception Day (WCD) takes place on September 26 every year. The annual worldwide campaign centers around a vision for a world where every pregnancy is wanted. Its mission is to improve awareness of contraception, to enable young people to make informed choices on their sexual and reproductive health.
The theme for 2014 is “It’s Your Life. It’s Your Future.” The focus is on empowering young people to think ahead and build contraception into their future plans, in order to prevent an unplanned pregnancy or sexually transmitted infection (STI).
Different contraceptive methods suit different people, so it is a good idea to look at the different options and find out about their effectiveness, advantages and disadvantages before making a decision.
Starting conversations about World Contraception Day with friends and family is a great way to spread awareness.
