Twitter posts show Arabs’ awareness – analyst
Press TV has conducted an interview with Ibrahim Mousawi, a political commentator from Beirut, about a research indicating the anti-US sentiment in millions of messages shared by the users of Twitter in the Arab world.
Press TV: How do you interpret this research?
Mousawi: Well certainly there is awareness among the people in the Arab world.
Actually we enter directly into the fairness and accuracy in reporting what is really happening. We know very well that most of the terminology being used has been fabricated in the West.
When you talk about Islamophobia, the association of Islam with others, or clash of civilization, they are all things that have been brought about by the academic warmongers in the West.
So here when the research says that most of those in the Arab world like 97 percent of the Syrians have sentiments against the United States, this is because they are aware of what is really happening and this is a signal about the horrible actions that the United States and the West are doing in the Arab world.
People know the kind of plots and conspiracies. It is very apparent. It is crystal clear for everybody. That is why I see no surprise in these kinds of results.
Press TV: How worried do you think are those undemocratic leaders of certain Arab states like Saudi Arabia in knowing that their populations are increasing in their awareness and this awareness is going to result in a bigger movement?
Mousawi: When people are being threatened in their safety and security, they refrain from threatening the policy in those countries. The people are not living in a democratic system so they can express their own opinions freely.
Here you are talking about autocratic, totalitarian regimes, dictatorships. You are not talking about democracy in the first place.
And most importantly those governors are trying to bribe the people. They are trying to sell them certain services which are their basic rights.
I believe this is not going to last for long because people are getting more and more interested in politics and because politics is a very important thing that should not be left for the politicians only to deal with.
