Russia vies for re-think of World Order – analyst
Press TV has conducted an interview with Dmitry Linnik, London Bureau chief of Voice of Russia from London, about Moscow slamming Washington for applying double standards in fighting terrorism.
Press TV: Let’s look at what the US President Barack Obama said at the UN General Assembly when he was at the podium that Russia through its aggression in Eastern Ukraine and the annexation of Crimea has threatened the New World Order.
Do you think there is a chance of even a reset to take place given the animosity that has been created now because of the crisis in Ukraine between Russia and the US?
Linnik: It is quite bizarre that structure of the New World Order that President Obama offered -- in fact that is what the problem is with the entire global order. It is the US pretends to global domination and that is what is souring the situation in the wider Middle East, in Ukraine and in some other places.
Press TV: But Russia is the only country that can stand up to the US. You have the BRICS, so is Russia going to stop with that motion towards BRICS countries where it mends ties with the US when it talks about a reset?
Linnik: Well, Russia has been a lot more realistic in its foreign policy that is often given credit for.
For the benefit of the world, Russia is prepared to maintain and develop a constructive relationship with the United States, but it has to be equitable. It cannot be do as I say and don’t do as I do. That is the whole problem in that approach.
So that is exactly the line that Russia is pursuing consistently, vying for this re-think of the World Order and a reset in relations with the United States.
