Israel lobby dictates US foreign policy for its own interests – analyst
Press TV has conducted an interview with James Morris, editor of america-hijacked.com from Los Angeles, the ongoing construction of Israeli settlements on the occupied Palestinian land.
Press TV: Settlement expansion is considered illegal. What is the international community not doing that allows Israel to carry on with impunity?
Morris: The international community at the United Nations, ICC and even at the World Court, which has condemned the Israeli apartheid wall, they can hand down decisions, but the problem is the Israel lobby (AIPAC and other entities). They just have so much influence not only in America, but also in Europe with the EU.
So, international bodies like the UN, and the US, which is a major financial contributor to the UN, they can talk all they want about the illegal Israeli expansionist policies in the West Bank, but unless somebody steps in like the US to cut off funding to Israel, that settlement building is going to continue.
That is what we saw happening with Gaza; that is what we saw with the Iraq war – the main reason the US invaded Iraq was because of the Israel lobby and the neo-Conservatives. They were the driving force and they wanted to cut off Saddam Hussein’s support of the Palestinian resistance.
Press TV: Given the crimes and atrocities committed by Israel against Palestinians, what can be done on a grassroots level?
Morris: If you have a Ghandi-like movement in the West Bank with say 100,000 Palestinians peacefully marching on Israeli checkpoints; the problem there is that Israel would slaughter those Palestinians; they would use their air power disproportionately like we saw in Gaza.
And how much would the US media cover it? It is always spun from an Israel-first perspective.
