MFA in Iran: We hope Turks will act smartly and will not promote destabilization in region
“Turkey should remember about its responsibilities while acting in the region considering the processes that are present in the region,” IRI MFA speaker Marzieh Afkham told the MEHR news agency.
The IRI MFA speaker at the meeting with the journalist has touched the policy adopted by Turkey towards Syria and Iraq and has noted, “We have stated already that Turkey should be more responsible for its actions and should not undertake any steps that could undermine the situation in the region.”
“At present the situation in the region is concerning, thus we hope the Turks will act in a smart way and will not use the terroristic issues for their short-term interests,” the IRI MFA speaker stated.
IRI Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has had a phone conversation with the Turkish FM Mevlut Cavushoglu has touched upon the decision of Turkey on permitting the military attack over Syria and Iraq, has condemned some of the methods of fighting against terrorism in the region and has added, “The countries of our region should be responsible for the steps they undertake in the current situation and should not promote its deterioration of it.”
The Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has stated that the air-attacks are not enough for preventing the militants of the “Islamic state”. Attack on the land is needed too.
