Ara Abrahamyan highlights importance of Armenia’s EEU accession
Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) is a significant event, President of the Union of Armenians of Russia and the World Armenian Congress Ara Abrahamyan told reporters on Monday. He said that they will hold a consultation meeting on October 16 to discuss the measures that need to be taken to raise efficiency of Armenia’s membership in the Union.
Mr Abrahamyan noted that the entry into the EEU does not pose threat to Armenia’s independence, and will not harm Nagorno-Karabakh. He stressed that it will ensure security of Armenia.
Ara Abrahamyan said that the Armenian government should make efforts to increase exports to the EEU member countries. He noted that the membership in the EEU will ensure free movement of capital.
As regards the sanctions against Russia, Ara Abrahamyan said that they are of temporary nature.
