Armenia’s membership in EEU will boost local production – economist
By joining the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), Armenia changed the direction of its economic development, economist Vilen Khachatryan told reporters on Monday.
“By joining the EEU, Armenia will deal with the counties of the Asian region. The developing Asian countries did not suffer economic downfall even during the global economic crisis. For instance, Kazakhstan has 7 percent economic growth annually,” the economist said.
Khachatryan also said that entering a competitive field, Armenia will have not only to import goods, but also to manufacture products. “This means that imports will decline and local production will develop,” he said.
