Aravot: Working mothers are discontented
Working mothers are displeased with the Armenian government’s decision to appease non-working mothers at the expense of working ones. They told Aravot that if the draft law is adopted, birth rates may decline.
According to the government-initiated amendments to the Law on Temporary Disability Allowance and the Law on Welfare Payments, from January 1, 2015 the amount of maternity benefits paid to working mothers will depend not only on the salary, but also on the length of service. Thus the government plans to pay benefits to non-working mothers too.
