Armenian parliament Speaker rules out postponement of constitutional reforms
No change of power is taking place in the country because the three non-government parties have absolutely different approaches to the domestic political life and different principles, speaker of Armenian National Assembly, member of Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Galust Sahakyan told a briefing in the parliament.
Mr Sahakyan ruled out a postponement of the constitutional reforms in case there is no agreement on this matter. He noted that besides the trio of non-government forces, there are many other political forces in the country, including extra-parliamentary ones.
Commenting on Prosperous Armenia leader Gagik Tsarukyan’s statement that he is ready to run for president, Sahakyan said, “Our entire nation wants to become president, prime minister or minister. It is regrettable that no one wants to become a scientist. Yet we are moving towards maximum development of science because our country’s strength lies in it.”
