Iraq facing testing time over terrorist attacks – activist
The Western nations’ manipulation and terrorist acts have placed Iraq in a very difficult position, says an activist.
“The reality is that Iraq is facing one of its very testing times and the invasion by the terrorists and the manipulation by the superpowers and the Western nations have put Iraq in a very difficult position,” Masoud Shadjareh, head of the Islamic Human Rights Commission from London, said in an interview with Press TV.
The remarks by the activist come as Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi is set to pay an official visit to Tehran this week to meet and confer with senior Iranian officials.
According to a statement released by Abadi’s office on Sunday, he will arrive in the Iranian capital for a one-day visit on Monday with the fight against the ISIL Takfiri militants being the main highlight of his talks.
Iran has announced its readiness to assist the neighboring country in its battle against the ISIL militants.
The analyst further stressed that the creation of ISIL terrorists was due to activities and support by the West, adding that there should be coordinated efforts to challenge the Takfiri terrorists militarily and ideologically.
The overall security situation in Iraq has worsened over the past months after the ISIL Takfiri terrorists, of whom many are foreign militants, took control of parts of the country’s northern and western regions.
Meanwhile, Iraqi armed forces have begun mop-up operations against the ISIL Takfiri terrorists operating in the northern parts of the Arab country.
The ISIL terrorists have been committing heinous crimes in the captured areas, including mass executions and beheading of people. They have threatened all communities, including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, Christians and Izadi Kurds.
