Dram/dollar exchange rate fluctuations are nothing extraordinary – economist
There is much talk about fluctuations of dram/dollar exchange rate, but it is nothing extraordinary, management expert, economist Harutyun Mesrobyan told reporters on Tuesday.
“I do not see any serious fluctuations. Moreover, absence of fluctuations would be surprising. Armenia carries out floating exchange rate policy and this implies exchange rate fluctuations. If fluctuations do not exceed 3 percent within a week, consumers should not be worried,” the specialist said.
Speaking about Armenia’s economy, Mr Mesrobyan said, “Armenia is not competitive in several aspects. The first factor is that the oligarchs and the authorities are interpenetrated.”
