Armenian President attends opening of new building of Special Investigation Service
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan attended on Tuesday the opening ceremony of the new building of Armenia’s Special Investigation Service at 13a Vagharsh Vagharshyan Street in Yerevan. Until now the SIS was located in the building of Prosecutor General’s Office.
Serzh Sargsyan toured the building, according to the presidential press service. He familiarized himself with the working conditions and spoke to employees about tasks of the agency, wishing them success.
Stressing that since its creation the Special Investigation Service (SIS) has been a significant component of the legal system, the president noted with satisfaction that SIS rapidly managed to gain authority worthy of its mission. “We have no alternative. We chose a difficult, but sole path of efficient state administration and harmonious development of the state and society. And this path is full of nuances. We also have main rules that shall be observed,” the head of state said.
“We can assert that we have traversed the chosen path when an opinion will prevail in society that all citizens, regardless of their jobs, are amenable to and equal before the law,” Serzh Sargsyan said.
According to him, the examination of annual written reports about activities of the SIS and its transparent work methods bear evidence of the agency’s consistent progress and development.
