Aravot: Ter-Petrosyan missed opportunity to establish closer ties with Iran
Speaking to Aravot, Iranian studies expert Emma Begijanyan said that during the presidency of Levon Ter-Petrosyan Armenia missed the opportunity to establish closer relations with Iran.
“There were all conditions for improving relations with Iran, but Ter-Petrosyan did not do it fearing that this could worsen relations with the West, and missed the opportunity. Russia had liberals who did not interfere much in Armenia’s domestic affairs. Now, Armenia has difficulty in taking major independent steps,” said the expert.
