Translation of Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi’s book presented in Yerevan
Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi, President of the Pontifical Council for Culture (Vatican), visited Yerevan State University (YSU) on Monday, as part of his visit to Armenia.
Also, the presentation of the Armenian and Russian translations of Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi’s book “St. Gregory the Illuminator: Common Christian Heritage” took place in Yerevan on Monday.
YSU Rector Aram Simonyan underscored the importance of the book for the Armenian nation. “It proves that Gregory the Illuminator played an invaluable role in the history of Christianity, and not only for the Armenian people, but also for the entire Christian religion,” he said.
Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi said, “We are proud of acquaintance with you, the people that was the first to adopt Christianity as a state religion in 301. St. Gregory the Illuminator is also part of the western culture.
“This work is aimed at the preservation of the Armenian culture.”
