Israel officially coming out as apartheid regime – analyst
Israel’s recent plan to set up a Palestinian-only city is an overt indication of the regime’s apartheid nature, a commentator tells Press TV.
“Let’s call it Israel’s official coming out as an apartheid” regime, Bruce Katz, the co-president of Palestinian and Jewish Unity, said in an interview with Press TV on Tuesday.
“With the planning of the separate city based strictly and specifically on ethnicity... even staunch allies of Israel... will now be hard-pressed to deny the fact that Israel,” is an apartheid regime, he added.
The remarks come as the Tel-Aviv regime has drawn up plans to build a Palestinian-only city in the northernmost part of occupied Palestinian lands.
The plan will go before the so-called National Planning and Building Council for approval next week.
Katz further said, “It’s not only a racist project, but it’s... the culmination of a process of colonization.”
It is a project “with the intent - the precise objective - of pushing Palestinians off their lands,” he added.
Many Palestinians have condemned the plan about the city, which is designed to accommodate a population of 40,000.
Meanwhile, more than half a million Israelis live in over 120 illegal settlements built since Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and East al-Quds (Jerusalem).
