Probation service to be introduced in Armenia no later than January 2016 – Minister
Probation service will start functioning in Armenia from late 2015 or January 2016, Minister of Justice Hovhannes Manukyan said at a briefing on Friday.
It will enable to unload penitentiary institutions by 25-30 percent, said the Minister.
Manukyan also said that the opening of the first building of Armavir penitentiary institution will also serve that purpose.
“Now, about 4,000 inmates are held at the country’s penitentiary institutions. The opening of the building will result in the unload of the institutions by 10 percent,” the Minister added.
