Participation in Tigran Petrosian Memorial is great responsibility, Aronian says
The right to compete in the Tigran Petrosian Memorial is a great honor, but also great responsibility, Armenian Grandmaster Levon Aronian told R-Sport news agency.
On Tuesday, in the first round, Aronian will play against Boris Gelfand. Other participants are Vladimir Kramnik, Alexander Grischuk, Alexander Morozevich, Ernesto Inakriev, Peter Leko and Ding Liren. Ninth World Chess Champion Tigran Petrosyan would have been 85 this year.
“Tigran Petrosyan had a unique playing style which is impossible to repeat. Many worthy players are participating in this tournament, but one cannot but mention Vladimir Kramnik. Any of the participants may win, but the ex-World Champion should be reckoned with in the first place,” Aronian said.
