EU to provide 140-170 mln euros aid to Armenia
As part of his visit to Brussels, Armenian Minister of Economy Karen Chshmaritian met with Johannes Hahn, European Commission member, European Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations.
Karen Chshmaritian and Johannes Hahn signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the European Union assistance to Armenia. Under the agreement, between 2014 and 2017, the EU will provide Armenia with about 140-170 million euros assistance for three areas: development of the private sector, reforms in the government institutions and the justice sector.
Also, they signed a budgetary assistance agreement ‘Support for Agriculture and Rural Development,’ as part of which the EU will provide 25 million euros to assist Armenia’s agricultural development, the press service of Armenian Ministry of Economy reports.
