Unknown gunman shoots student outside Delaware State University
An unknown gunman has shot at and wounded a student at a residence hall near Delaware State University in Dover, US, a representative of the city administration said late on Monday, according to RIA Novosti.
Reuters cited the administration official as saying the shooting took place at 5 p.m. local time (22:00 GMT Monday).
Police shut off the territory for three hours as they looked for the attacker who is reportedly still at large. The incident put the university on lockdown and students were prohibited to leave the campus.
The attacked student was taken to hospital with injuries that did not threaten his life, Dover emergency management coordinator Kay Sass was quoted by Associated Press as saying.
This is another incident in a string of gun violence that hit the United States over the past few months. In a most recent shooting, a teenager shot himself after killing a girl and wounding two of his cousins at a US school north of Seattle, in Washington State. He is reported to have been a very popular student from a well-respected family.
