Turkish-speaking Islamists pose threat to Armenia – expert
The Turkish-speaking Islamists are consolidating and if they make progress, they will pose a big threat to Armenia, theologian, Yerevan State University lecturer Vardan Khachatryan told reporters on Monday.
He noted that Armenia should be ready for such developments.
The expert said that Russia fears that the Islamists may take power in Azerbaijan and this may be dangerous for Armenia.
According to Khachatryan, some specialists say that the recent encroachments upon the Armenians were carried out by Turkey, not by the Islamists. This, however, does not reduce the danger, he added.
