World Oil Outlook 2014: Azerbaijan witnesses strong decline in oil production
Azerbaijan witnesses strong decline in oil production. It is stated in the report “World Oil Outlook 2014” by Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, published on the website of the organization.
According to the report after a decade of strong growth that lifted total liquids output to 1.07 mb/d in 2010, Azerbaijan has witnessed a strong production decline. Liquids supply fell to 0.95 mb/d in 2011 and 0.9 mb/d in 2012, and it is expected to drop further to around 0.87 mb/d in 2014.
It is noted, that this is mainly due to delays and on-going production problems. In addition, the start-up of Shah Deniz Phase 2 has been delayed and is now expected in 2018. Further delays are also likely.
OPEC also forecasts, that by 2019 production rates will drop to an average of 0.8 mb/d, and by 2030-40 – to 0.7 mb/d.
