US in total disarray in ISIL fight – activist
The United States has no idea how to fight the Takfiri ISIL terrorists in Iraq and is in total disarray in the fight against the group, says an activist, Press TV reports.
“The US is totally in disarray… The United States does not know where it is going or what it is doing right now and they are just playing it day by day and I think the strategy is to get itself back involved in Iraq,” Tighe Barry, with activist group CODEPINK, said in an interview with Press TV from Washington.
The remarks come as the United States’ top military officer said the US-led coalition’s battle against the ISIL terrorists is “starting to turn” and may continue for “several years.” General Martin Dempsey, the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, made the comments among American troops during a surprise visit to the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, on Saturday.
Barry further noted that the US has not learned lessons from previous wars, adding that it needs to use political strategies to get out of the crisis it is in over ISIL.
The activist concluded by saying that retraining the Iraqi army is just a way for the defense contractors to make “more money” and is going to cost the American public.
Last week, Obama authorized dispatching up to 1,500 forces to Iraq over the ISIL threat.
A US-led campaign has been conducting airstrikes on ISIL positions in Iraq and Syria.
